School-Specific Insurance Guidance
Every school plan is different. Here is how we help you navigate the specifics of your institution's coverage.
University of Alberta undergraduate and graduate students may have different health and dental plans, with different insurers, group numbers, and claim procedures.
For eligible UASU plan members, coverage is administered through Green Shield Canada. We can submit eligible claims electronically when your coverage is active and our clinic is set up for the applicable claims process.
Please bring your Green Shield or Studentcare information and confirm that your coverage is active before treatment. New or recently enrolled students may experience delays before their information appears in the insurer's system.
MacEwan University students may be covered through the SAMU Health & Dental Plan, administered through the myStudentPlan/Gallivan platform.
We can help review your plan information and submit eligible claims electronically where direct billing is available. Coverage depends on your active enrollment and the specific benefits included in your plan.
For extensive treatment, ask about preauthorization before proceeding. Preauthorization can help clarify how much your plan may pay, although it does not guarantee that every cost will be covered.
NAIT students may be covered through the NAITSA Health & Dental Plan, administered through Gallivan/myStudentPlan.
Where direct billing is available, we can submit eligible claims electronically. If you also have coverage through a parent, spouse, or another insurance plan, bring both Benefits Cards. We can explain the usual coordination-of-benefits process, but reimbursement is determined by the insurers and may not cover 100% of the total cost.
Some students may have an activation period before their coverage becomes available in the claims system. If your plan is not active, you may need to pay at the appointment and submit your receipt for reimbursement later.
NorQuest students may be covered through the SANQC Health & Dental Plan, administered through Alumo/myStudentPlan.
We can attempt to verify your active coverage and submit eligible claims electronically once your plan is available in the system. During an initial activation period, you may need to pay upfront, keep your receipt, and submit the claim after your coverage becomes active.
Bring your SANQC Benefits Card and student identification to your appointment.
Concordia University of Edmonton students may be covered through the Concordia Students' Association Health & Dental Plan, also known as the CUESA plan.
We can help submit eligible claims electronically where direct billing is available. Please bring your Benefits Card and student ID so our team can review the information needed for your claim.
If our clinic is not set up for direct billing under your specific plan, we can provide the documentation you need to submit the claim yourself.
If you are a student at The King's University and have active extended health and dental coverage, bring your Benefits Card and student identification to your appointment.
Our team can review the information provided and determine whether electronic claim submission is available for your specific plan. Direct billing and reimbursement depend on the insurer, your active enrollment, and the terms of your coverage.

We Submit Eligible Claims
If our clinic is enrolled with the applicable insurer or electronic claims network, we can submit eligible claims at the time of your appointment.
You Pay Any Remaining Balance
You may be responsible for deductibles, co-insurance, amounts above the insurer's fee guide, excluded services, annual maximums, or claims that are declined or require manual processing.
If Direct Billing Isn't Available
You may need to pay at the appointment and submit your receipt to the insurer for reimbursement.

Many student plans use a September-to-August policy year, but the dates vary by institution and enrollment type. Some plans may have activation periods at the beginning of coverage. Before treatment, check:
- Whether your coverage is active
- Your remaining annual dental maximum
- The percentage covered for the proposed service
